The Music industies feels the recession?



Some would have sworn the recession wouldnt touch the entertainment industry as entertainment makes the heart merry, though the reccession has been affecting regular folks for a couple years now its impact had'nt been felt in hollywood untill recently, it was time for Alist celebraties to feel the pinch. Most Alist artists had supprisingly concelled one tour or the other including Rihanna who had just cancellations.

According to the Live Nation, Rihanna has canceled five shows on her “Last Girl on Earth” tour due to low ticket sales. Of course, the “official” excuse was “scheduling conflicts.”

According to Pollstar.com, gross revenue for the top 100 tours in North America in the first six months of 2010 is down nearly $200 million from last year, which is a 17 percent drop. As for ticket sales, the top 100 acts sold an average of 6,951 tickets per show, down about 9 percent from 7,639 during the same period in 2009.

  1. these people are too damn expensive when it comes to concerts and tours and i think the financial meltdown has done very well to make them think about the fact that the fans want them but they need to consider cost of tickets
